Vichy, city of culture and history

Only 15 minutes from the Château de Saint Alyre, the city of Vichy reveals its many facets. On the banks of the Allier, near the Bourbon mountains, Vichy is a town in the Department of Allier and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which, through nice walks, offers cultural and historical treasures. The Vichy Opera House, a listed monument  is a marvel of Art Nouveau, with its golden and yellow colors and its majestic dome and it now welcomes nearly 1,400 spectators. The Casino de Vichy, in the spa district, is an example of neoclassical architecture from the mid-19th century, later decorated with Art Deco buildings. The Couvent des Célestins, in the Parc des Célestins, built in the 15th century has been recently renovated and restored to full bloom. The beautiful parks – the Parc des Célestins, Kennedy Park, Parc Napoléon III – are also worth a visit for pleasant breaks at any time of the day. Treat yourself to some strolls along emblematic streets, to discover the architecture, particularly the different eras that have shaped the city: Alquié Street, fashioned in London style or the Avenue Aristide Briand, the boulevard des Etats-Unis with the elegant, colonial-style chalets, private residences of the Emperor

Treat yourself to a gourmet break in the tea room Le Fidèle Berger, symbolic place of the city and steeped in history, which offers a special welcome to guests of the Château de Saint-Alyre. Brasserie, café, tea room and pastry shop, Le Fidèle Berger has kept its old-fashioned charm of the Belle Epoque, in which we take pleasure in the time to enjoy a morning coffee, a meal at noon or a delicious pastry accompanied by a hot beverage…

Vichy, city of well-being

Vichy, thermal city of great fame, is since Antiquity, a place prized for the quality of its hot and cold springs and its numerous thermal establishments which were born during the regular cures of Emperor Napoleon III and his family.

Do not miss the Hall of Sources, a colourful metal building, in the purest tradition of Art Nouveau, where you can taste the six sources of the city, used during thermal cures. Renowned for its benefits for digestive disorders and joint pains, hydrotherapy continues to bring visitors throughout the year, who enjoy a moment of relaxation in one of the many establishments of the city, around the Park of the Sources.

Admire the original Moorish style of the iconic Grand Etablissement Thermal, built in the late nineteenth century, which now houses the spa center of the Domes.
